Absinthe Sour
1oz Absinthe
1oz Simple Syrup
1oz Lemon Juice
1/2 Egg White
Dry Shake all ingredients
Add Ice, and Shake
Double Strain into a Sours Glass (or Goblet/Old Fashioned)
Garnish with a Lemon Twist
I acquired a large amount of glassware from a bar that has been recently renovated; In hindsight most of the glasses are ugly and the majority of them useless. This glass however, caught my eye and I instantly knew it would be perfect for a Sour. With the next few days off, I though it was a good idea to start off the day with some absinthe.
With sweet notes that quickly morph into a sour attack on the sides of your tongue, this cocktail’s silky textured liquid slides down a treat and leaves behind the dominant anise flavours of Absinthe.

Kryptonite
A cocktail containing the mystical powers of Absinth, mixed with hints of fruit.
The Mash Bill:
2/3oz Absinth
2/3oz Apple Pucker
2/3oz Midori
2/3oz Pineapple juice
2/3oz Lime juice
1/3oz Simple Syrup
The Work Order:
- Fill Shaker with Ice
- Pour all ingredients
- Shake
- Strain into Cocktail Glass
- Serve
My Thoughts:
A sweet drink, lots of fruit flavours, with an ever so slight anise tang to it.
At first you taste the pineapple, the Midori (Melon) and Sour Pucker Schnapps (Apple) arrive shortly after. The sweetness subsides and allows the Absinth to hang in the aftertaste.

Review:
This is the first time I have consumed Absinth, to taste and review that is; I have had it in the past, but as shots etc, however you don’t get to appreciate any of the taste when taking shots of neat spirits. Read More »
